The Joyberry is a parasitic, fruit bearing vine of the deep Eastern forests, particularly the deciduous and jungle regions. Its vines and leaves are bright green, its roots paler green and entwining with its host tree to extract vital nourishment. It bears large, smooth orange fruit, with sweet juicy flesh.

Joyberry vines are popular with a number of creatures, particularly humans and simians, not only as a source of fresh fruit but also as a source of alcohol: Joyberries which have finished ripening will continue to hang on the vine and commence a process of natural fermentation, rendering the fruit increasingly alcoholic. Most creatures, particularly nomadic barbarian tribes without mastery of the distilling or brewing process, place great value on fermented Joyberries.

Cathak Cacek is known to have been fond of joyberries following his Legion service in the East, and so they are sometimes served as a sign of respect for him during the conclusion galas of Gateway tournaments, particularly those sponsored by House Cathak.
