Journey to the East

A travelogue written by an adventuring Dynastic Scavenger Lord with an interest in the occult. It is a large tome, but varied, its tales of monstrous devices and demonic pacts vary between the exciting (favoured material for performers at the Palace of Trees) and the nightmarish (material for frightening children and peasants to keep properly to the Immaculate Faith).

The text speaks of many Eastern ruins and spirits. Its accounts of Rathess provide much of the knowledge of Dragon Kings and their civilization held by the members of the Scarlet Dynasty (outside those of more specialized learning such as graduates of the Heptagram), though his conjecture that the feral beasts of modern Rathess are the degenerated descendants of Dragon Kings remains contentious.

It also includes tales of the Eastern wood spirits and their shifting alliances, including the story of their pact with the demon Mara the Shadow-Lover, who it is said will do no harm to any under a wood god’s protection.
