Inkcap mushrooms are small dark mushrooms with dark grey caps edged in black. They grow in open fields, and are found across the Scavenger Lands and southeast Blessed Isle.

Inkcaps exude a black inky liquid when picked, and indeed this has been used as ink by some poorer writers.

The mushroom is edible, but its flavour is not notable. It forms a part of some Immaculate cuisine, and the mushrooms are included in nearly every dish served at the Palace Sublime, Cloister of Wisdom, and other temples known for the strength of their devotion to their vows.

When consumed around the same time as Alcohol, Inkcap mushrooms have a significant poisonous effect, inducing immediate illness, nausea, cramps, vomiting, loss of balance, soreness, rashes, and other symptoms. Amongst the Immaculate clergy, an ‘Inked Monk’ is one who has been caught breaking their vows due to these symptoms clearly pointing out one who has snuck out for a drink (though the term long ago expanded to include the breaking of other vows as well).
