Henbane
Henbane is an herb native to the Blessed Isle, growing up to 1 yard in height that produces yellow flowers with prominent green veins, and large quantities of seeds. It is toxic, able to enter the body by ingestion or absorption through the skin.
Henbane is commonly used as a form of anesthetic, as it dulls a user’s sense of pain. It is however not popular amongst medical professionals due to the fact it can prove quite deadly in low doses. A local variety of beer in the southeastern Blessed Isle uses tiny amounts as part of flavouring, in place of hops.
In addition to dulling pain sense, henbane has a number of other properties. Ingestion typically produces visual hallucinations, specifically distortions, and a sense of flight, mild loss of muscle control, and an increase in body temperature accompanying flushed skin. This increased circulation in turn renders the user more vulnerable to additional absorption of drugs in contact with the skin.
