Goblin Iron

Goblin Iron is a metal thought to be tainted by the Wyld. While iron is highly resistant to the Wyld, and often repels its approach, sometimes the energies of chaos prove overwhelming, and veins of mundane iron are contaminated, rendered into something entirely new. Though it resembles mundane Iron when mined, indistinguishable to all but experts in geomancy, when one attempts to smelt or burn Goblin Iron the effort instead produces a blue powder and a cloud of highly poisonous gas.

The powder produced is highly valued, producing vibrant blue pigments that can be used for paint, for coloured glass, and for the blue imagery favoured as the ‘perfected ideal’ for porcelain.

Because of its nature, goblin iron is alone amongst the metals of Creation in not being found anywhere on the Blessed Isle. Principalities bordering the Wyld often make its production a major focus of their economies, vital to paying for the armies needed to force back the depredations of the Fae.
