The Gem of Honest Destination is a smooth sphere, a full yard in diameter. It cannot be placed in a hearthstone socket, nor can it be borne to increase essence respiration: it grows seamlessly out of its origin in the hearthstone chamber. However, when touched by someone attuned to its manse the Gem dims all light within its chamber and projects a glowing image around itself.

The image consists of five glowing white lines, representing the roads leaving Lord's Crossing out to 100 miles from the city. Atop these lines, small blue points can be seen representing every person and vehicle traveling upon or above the roads. If a point is touched, a red line grows from it to indicate its intended destination and course. If instead an empty point is touched, lines will link that destination to all individuals moving towards it. Given the scale of the projection and lack of zooming features, individuals can be difficult to identify but the system treats groups as a single unit making caravans and armies easy to track. Stealth attempts can work to hide from the Gem, but treat these as attempts at stealth within the manse walls (Difficulty 5, pools reduced to 0 before Charm use)... the Gem detects immaterial beings as if they were material, and automatically pierces the stealth systems of Dragon Armour. Anything the Gem detects that is attempting stealth against it, is immaterial, or is stealth-active Dragon Armour, is surrounded by a bright green glow that allows it to be easily picked out.

The system does not know the destiny of that which it observes, only its intentions, when it comes to determining destinations. Those without a destination in mind are surrounded by a diffuse red cloud, but it is very unlikely for anyone moving on a road to NOT have some destination in mind, and so such typically indicates alien thinking or some form of insanity.
