Time: Eighth day of Ascending Water.

Location: Imperial City.

Host: Immaculate Order.

Invitations: Public.

Theme and Activity: The Festival of Salt traditionally consists of a short parade and sermon, as the Scarlet Empress travels from the Imperial Palace to the Temple of Salt and conducts negotiations with the salt gods of the Blessed Isle to establish the common salt rate for the current year. Common people outside the temple would be led in prayer by Immaculate monks, granting due worship to those salt gods who showed proper obedience to the will of the Empress. After the negotiations were completed, the Temple’s monks would distribute small bags of salt amongst the gathered citizenry.

In the absence of the Empress, the salt rate system has collapsed entirely on the Blessed Isle, and the current festival sees a muted turnout. The Temple still conducts prayer services for loyal salt gods, and distributes small quantities of salt, but the only deities who still pay the ceremony heed are those who reside in the Scarlet Prefecture itself.
