Eyefruit

Eyefruit is the name of a climbing plant, and of the fruit which that plant bears. Its leaves are broad, alongside clusters of ivory-coloured flowers. The ‘fruit’ is red, containing a large black seed surrounded by a white aril. When the outside is split open, the white-and-black remainder bears a stark resemblance to a human eye.

Eyefruit is cultivated in the Southwestern Threshold, particularly the Land of Crushing Fragrance, Blood River, and An-Teng, as well as neighbouring states. Typically the fruit and their seeds are ground into powder which is used to make a tea that is said to invigorate mind and body. Eyefruit is also used in the region’s distinct Agwa Liqueur.
