Dezda

A Glorious Luminor of the Brilliant Rapture from Harmegis in Claslat, Dezda was once a well-regarded senior Luminor tasked with the prestigious role of examining soulgems to decide their proper station… and which were fit for use in the creation of new Alchemical Exalted. Years of diligent service in that role were disrupted when one such soulgem passed before her. It was a soul whose lifetimes had proven a record of self-sacrifice... but its previous two incarnations had made their sacrifices in a manner which would usually have seen the Luminors return it to mortal life for a few more generations of tempering. Dezda did not do so, for one selfish reason: one of those souls had been the Luminor Ulian, her lover and mentor, who had perished thirty years before. Dezda deemed the soulgem ready for implantation in an Alchemical form, and the Sodalites forged Vigorous March of Progress to carry it.

Her choice to favour personal feelings over duty did not escape notice, though her fellow Luminors caught her only after March had stepped from his vat and declared his name. As is the way with the Sodalities, the Luminors punished her according to their own hidden methods, and she emerged with one of her eyes arc-blinded and her position with soulgems ended.

The present relationship between March and Dezda is strange: an Alchemical is not, after all, a soul reincarnated but a soul reforged, and she has little interest in the plight of the Populat, which occupies much of the Jade Caste’s attention. Nevertheless, there is a quiet fondness on her part and quiet gratitude on his, and the two will sometimes walk the Maker’s Eye and speak together: Dezda offering information on events amongst the Sodalities (though the nature of her concerns means these are rarely politics or policy, more cautions and warnings), March doing his best to plumb the memories of Ulian so he might join her in reminiscing.
