Caosht Cao

Caosht Cao, Prefect of the Perfected Hierarchy, Pontiff of the Prayer Calendar, Most Dutiful and Diligent Divinity of the Immaculate Order, is amongst the most disliked gods in Heaven. A close ally of the Bronze Faction of Sidereal Exalted, and of the Immaculate religion that is its purview.

Caosht Cao is an unusual spirit, and some can mistake it for an environmental phenomenon: it is a diffuse, genderless white mist that moves slowly about, the only sign of its nature the faint music of Immaculate hymns that can be heard when one passes through it. It tends to avoid speech when it can, though its tongue is looser with spirits and the Exalted so long as mortals are not present.

Caosht Cao does not spend its time on politics or accumulating cult and prayer. The vast bulk of its existence is spent in its sanctum, carrying out its paperwork, its reports made in clear brushwork and always delivered on time to the proper recipients, containing the exact required amounts of detail, no more and no less. Some might think Caosht Cao is a broken puppet, or a fool without ambition, but they would be wrong. Caosht Cao's purview has shaped it into an ideal, the Immaculate fantasy of what a god ought be, performing its duties to the letter without extorting prayer beyond its due.

To the Sidereal Exalted working with the Order, Caosht Cao demonstrates both the promise of the Perfected Hierarchy, and its risks, for Caosht Cao does not seek to spread the religion of which it is divinity, leaving all such efforts to the mortals and Exalts which make it up. Nor does it seem particularly proactive in solving the problems of its domain: its task is to oversee, to track, to report, and it shows little initiative in its job. It is not that Caosht Cao does not care... it cares very deeply indeed... but that its nature makes turning such cares or personal interests into actions very difficult. Some gods mistake this for incorruptibility, but even Caosht Cao has sometimes abused its position, and takes immense pride in its purview and its accumulation of titles... even as it feels compelled to restraint by the very nature of the post.

Caosht Cao's sanctum is accessed through its shrine, located in a small room just off the corridor leading to the quarters of the Mouth of Peace in the Palace Sublime.
