The Battle of Ten Days’ Tears was a conflict occurring in RY736 between the 47th Imperial Legion and an uprising of native villagers in the satrapy of Harbourhead, protesting the imposition of new Cattle taxes by the Imperial Satrap to fund renovation of Immaculate temples in the region.

The Battle came in retaliation for attacks against Imperial tax collectors trying to remove cows from local herds, with the Imperial response to deploy a wing under Tepet Sakada to enslave the villages where attacks had occurred and seize all of their herds.

The villagers banded together to resist, and while organized units were defeated in skirmishes individuals within villages proved more difficult to deal with, attacking with surprise and inflicting many casualties, including talonlord Tepet Corvus. The wing’s response was to abandon slave-taking and begin surrounding villages and setting them aflame instead of entering them, a strategy they undertook for ten days. The campaign ended when, in face of increasing unrest due to its brutality, the satrap commanded Legion troops withdrawn, save for winglord Sakada, upon whom blame for the excesses was hefted. Sakada fought well against the surviving warriors of the villages, but was eventually felled by a Bride of Ahlat, his death serving to somewhat calm the populace… though officially this was denied, many in Harbourhead saw this as the Realm offering a warrior as sacrifice to the God of Southern War.

After the dust had settled, new 47th Legion units were deployed alongside tax collectors to levy the original Cattle tax, now reconstituted as a tax for the development of Kirighast. This met with far less opposition, and the funds raised were transferred by the satrap to the Immaculate Order for the renovation of temples.
