The Gem of Safe Harvest works as described in Oadenol's Codex pp. 90.
Note that it does not convey any additional strength of jaw... the bearer might be able to consume Iron plate armour as nourishing food, but it would be difficult to bite through or swallow such a thing without other tools or significant prowess. The Gem of Safe Harvest is considered one of the Stones of the Immaculate Body.
