Blessed Mold is a filamentous fungus which is amongst the most important fungi in Creation. It is used in a large number of processes across Creation, to ferment soybeans (for production of tofu, miso paste, soy sauce, etc) and to create alcoholic beverages out of rice, grains, and potatoes (such as rice beer).
Blessed Mold is also useful medically as a treatment for infections and stomach ailments.
The god of fungi, Oryzae, holds influence in Yu-shan far above his weight due to the complex system of favours and alliances he has built up over the years primarily due to the utility of Blessed Mold.
