Treason of Art is a work of literary criticism dating from the Shogunate Era, a polemic text dismissing the merits of the literature emerging from Chiaroscuro for revising classical themes and stories, going so far as to condemn all the playwrights and court officials of Chiaroscuro as “the sycophantic cabal of a daimyo whose tastes appreciate nothing that is good or true or right”.
