Magma Manta

Magma Mantas are a type of Fire Elemental, born at the eruption of a volcano to assure the spread of lava and transformation of the solid land it touches into molten rock, the seas it strikes into steam, the essence of Fire made dominant over that of Earth and Water. The Mantas exult and do all they can to encourage eruptions and destruction, and can be a dangerous scourge for the island-dwellers of the West who have nowhere to flee when these elementals emerge to spread fire and melted stone.

While Earth elementals are oft irritated by the arrival of Mantas, they tend towards a methodical long-term view, knowing that the Mantas will soon expend their energies or anger other spirits and be driven off, allowing stone to solidify and re-assume its proper nature. The elementals of water are far less tolerant, Water Courts (and many Western gods of the Terrestrial Courts) often adopting a proactive approach and hunting Mantas down as they emerge to stop them before they prod volcanos into waking. Because of this danger, Mantas often join the households of Volcano Gods for protection, forming a dangerous entourage for those great and irritable divinities.
