White Jelly Fungus

White Jelly Fungus is a species of fungi producing white, frond-like, gelatinous fruit bodies. It is widespread, especially in tropical climates, growing on the dead branches of broadleaf trees.

White Jelly is traditionally used in sweet dishes. While tasteless, it is valued for its gelatinous texture, paired with fruits such as jujubes.

It also forms an ingredient in some alchemical concoctions designed to prevent blood clotting, of use in treating some medical problems. Amongst the Haslanti, whose medical treatments are predominantly based on bloodletting, it is particularly useful, and the Guild ensures the fungus arrives in quantity at Haslanti markets.
