The Hearthglow Tagine is a bauble artifact, once common in ages past. It is a ceramic vessel, flat bottomed and with a large conical lid, in which can be placed various foods and ingredients. A mundane tagine, still common in the River Province and Southeastern Threshold, is placed over hot coals and used as a cooking pot, the lid ensuring condensation is returned to the bottom during cooking.

The Hearthglow Tagine needs no coals. Through a minor work of artifice (drawing power from a Fireseed), the Hearthglow Tagine is self-heating, cooking its contents without fuel or smoke. It is highly regarded by chefs for the perfect evenness of temperature as it cooks. Many kitchens bound in service to the Scarlet Dynasty and Threshold nobility include a Hearthglow Tagine.

The Hearthglow Tagine provides other minor effects as it cooks. The temperature varies depending on placement of the cover upon the base, and when working the Tagine provides a small amount of warmth, though it does not burn to the touch and can be placed on wooden tables without risk of setting them alight. The temperature within the Tagine is indicated by a soft orange glow emanated from the bauble when it is in operation, brighter as it increases.

Many traders within the Scavenger Economy supply Hearthglow Tagines to a market eager for such a useful device. In the present age, new Tagines have also been constructed, the secrets behind their design discovered by the Realm artificer Cathak Adlai.
