The Ballad of Burning Tigers is a Realm military ballad, often sung by soldiers of the Imperial Legions though it predates their founding. Its origins are thought to be in the first year of the Empress' reign, attributed as a spontaneous song which rose to the lips of the young and old mustering to defend the shores of the Blessed Isle from the evils of the Seven Tiger-Generals.

The lyrics of the song are both sorrowful and patriotic... they mourn loved ones and comrades lost in battle, and those about to be lost as well, but also sing of determination in the face of a vicious foe and dedication to the cause of Realm and Scarlet Empress.

Though the official histories do not mention it (as they do not spend much time at all on the subject) some whisper that the Empress’ Own Guard sang the Ballad to the last as they were destroyed by the forces of Lookshy in the Battle of Melevhil.
