Auspicious Wave-Sundering Fist
Type: Common Warstrider Rating: •••, + Aquatic High Speed Propulsion System ••••, + Crushing Flame Strike (red jade warstrider daiklave) •• Magical Material: Black Jade Attuned: V'neef Huoxin
Description
Auspicious Wave-Sundering Fist is a towering suit of armour some eighteen feet tall, plated in black jade edged with intricate carved wave patterns. Further black jade, etched with Old Realm script, winds around the bars and struts of the metal skeleton within, while a leather harness assembly supports the pilot within the armoured chest: while normally such a position would be cramped and hot, the surrounding jade mitigates such discomfort with subtle flows of essence for those properly attuned to the material. A steel helm plated in more black jade, newer and simpler in construction than the rest, tops the armour, its forehead bearing the mon of House V’neef.
History
Auspicious Wave-Sundering Fist has a long and eventful history, records placing it in the armies of a Western daimyo in the days of the Shogunate, where it saw battle against the armies of rival daimyo and the enemies of Creation alike. It is assumed to have fought against the Fair Folk in the Great Contagion, and is presumed to have been felled in that conflict, lost to history for some centuries.
The warstrider was recovered by a House V’neef survey team attempting to clear a cooled lava flow covering over one of their holdings on the island of Bushan. Though its pilot had been reduced to ash and its systems heavily damaged, it was deemed salvageable, and shipped to the Blessed Isle so it might join the House’s meager number of warstriders. Though V’neef did not have access to the facilities of a factory-cathedral, the renowned sorcerer-artificer Ledaal Daitenshi was contracted to conduct the repairs. The presence of advanced aquatic systems made the process difficult, and it took several years (and much bargaining for parts with Realm artifact dealers) to restore Auspicious Wave-Sundering Fist to fully functioning status.
Not a martial House, V’neef has entrusted Fist to one of its few prodigies in warfare, V’neef Huoxin of the Merchant Marine's 2nd Marine Guard, where it currently serves as a symbol of Realm and House power in the West.
