Festival of Sextes Jylis

Theme and Activity: This festival is a celebration of the Immaculate Dragon of Wood, Sextes Jylis. The inhabitants of the Realm, from Dynast to peasant, wear clothes (or, in the case of the poor, scraps of cloth tied in hair or as armbands) displaying shades of green and sometimes imagery of plants and flowers.

At dawn, a parade of Immaculate monks leaves each temple, carrying green lanterns and placards displaying relevant quotes from the Immaculate texts. These monks chant the hymns of Sextes Jylis as they walk through the streets of their towns and cities, scattering seeds behind them. Though not sanctioned by the Order, there is a belief that those who ensure such seeds are properly planted in soil will receive the blessing of the Wood Dragon.

As the sun begins to set, many households gather for a family feast. To emulate the benevolence and kindness of Sextes Jylis, leftover food from these meals is sent over the course of the evening to Immaculate temples, where it is distributed to the poor.
