Firemane

Firemanes are a rare and highly prized breed of horses from the Blessed Isle, bred by the Prism Clan of Patricians in the stables of Cloaka, a township in Eagle Prefecture.

Firemanes originate from Desert Horse stock, bred for speed and elegance according to secret family techniques which produce horses that have unmarred black coats and flame-red tails & manes. They are amongst the fastest mundane horses in Creation, rivalled only by Leopard Horses, though some have whispered that their distinctive coloration might be due to the mixing of supernatural blood into the breed.

Dynasts, particularly aspects of Fire and scions of House Cathak, consider firemanes as the most desirable breed of horse for their stables. The Prism clan is careful to sell only geldlings, never mares, to preserve their monopoly on the breed.

Each year, the Cloaka Fire-Races feature firemane horses both as prizes and as near-constant winners.
