Afternoon showers
Author: by Peleps Planebu
Description: A romantic poem, popular perhaps less for its content than for its history: the author, the Earth aspect Peleps Planebu, leapt from the deck of his ship in full armour and sank to the bottom of the Western Ocean, after learning his wife had run off with a Cynis fop.
Contents:
having walked across the Isle,
over copper ridged mountains
bleeding shades of green
from giant aloe and breezing palms,
we landed on the satin Western sands;
sacred and unknown to the world;
protected by the crescent of sea caves,
lava walls and fresh falling water.
in the mornings we joined
the dolphins for swim in song,
teasing them with our crude bubbles.
they teased us with endless smiles
and chases; spinning in a ballet
of innocence.
in the evening we dined on
mountain apples and guavas,
drinking wine from the nearby stream,
later, falling into a blanket of stars
and balmy wind
as the midnight waves lulled us to sleep.
but,
it is the afternoons i remember,
dear;
the place where the Rock
was worn so soft as to invite
our naked feet and bodies
to stand tangled in a sculpture
of wet skin and love beneath a blazing sun
and the showers of sweet water.
