Qat is a small leafy plant which grows plentifully across the Eastern Threshold, and has been cultivated along the northern coast and on the Blessed Isle as well.

The leaves of the plant are used to make a common euphoric of the same name. Qat is only mildly addictive, but it deadens pain (both physical and emotional), and it is highly prized by it's users. When fresh, Qat leaves can be chewed or brewed into a tea. Dried leaves lose their potency, but coating the fresh leaves with an edible gum preserves them.

Regular users have pale green stains on their teeth and lips.

In the Realm, qat is known as the ‘Slave’s Drug’ to many due to its use keeping large slave populations pliable within the holdings of House Cynis and cadet House Ferem (of Cherak).

Qat is a staple crop in the Guild drug trade, which ensures its availability across Creation.
