Description

Shinjo's quarters are located in the Ledaal section of the Western Wing of the Imperial Palace. The apartments include a small sitting room, a main chamber with a nook for servants, a study, and his bedchambers. The rooms rarely show signs of the flamboyant playboy life that Shinjo lives in the galas and salons of the Dynasty, nor do they show much in the way of personal decoration. As of AW 9 RY768, Tepet Jozan redecorated Shinjo's quarters in bolts of red silk and scented candles of cinnamon, with peach blossoms marking a trail from the entrance to the bedchamber.

The sitting room contains several chairs arrayed to one side, with small tables for holding refreshments. Opposite sits a single chair and an ornate carved stand displaying a laruan, a large stringed instrument played with a horsehair bow.

The main chamber is dominated by a dining table, situated low to the floor according to older formal styles, flanked by lounging chairs and plentiful silk feather-stuffed cushions. Numerous musical instruments adorn the walls resting on carved racks, gifts from family and friends, though carved Linowan javelins decorate the wall behind the table; a gift for Tepet Sorae's graduation from the House of Bells that was never delivered. The servant's nook is partitioned by a silk hanging depicting the moon pond of the Palace of Vines in Arjuf. The spirits cabinet is stocked with peach schnapps and wines from the Ten Thousand Hills distillery.

The study has a writing desk, stocked with various art and calligraphy supplies as well as a letter incinerator. Above it is a display rack containing a half-dozen silver flutes, each nearly an identical match but for small differences in make. The walls are nothing but a mess of bookshelves and scroll racks, accommodating both Shinjo's own written works and notes but also collections of classic plays, the odd foreign script or travelogue, pillow-books and erotic manuals. Many of the latter bear cheeky missives from Cynis Tabar within their inside covers.

Shinjo's bedchamber saw the most renovation by Jozan. Red silk bedsheets and a bevy of candles on every free surface add a certain flair of southern romance to a room that was lacking in such. The closets hold a few silk robes, all well cared for and rarely worn; some are for a male physique, while one in lavender is cut for a woman. A dress crafted from tiger skins, and a fine robe of sky blue silk and golden branches along the arms, are both from Onherra's Ragged Lace. The vanity has make-up and a few items of silver jewelry fit for a Dynast, as well as red jade pentagram earrings. Shinjo largely relies on his moonsilver amulet for clothes and accessories, and thus has little need for collecting new items of either unless they are of unsurpassed quality.

Staff

Eighty-Five, slave of the Crocus Troupe under command of lady Sesus Kimiasha. Left to see to Shinjo's domestic needs, he also plays the lute and is trained in interior decoration.

Rekka of the Open Sands, flame duck elemental in servitude as bed-warmer and concubine.

Minor serving staff and slaves under Ledaal wing employment. After Ascending Wood 9th they rarely brave the rooms for long, just to provide necessary services.
