House Morigaturqi was a short-lived Great House of the Scarlet Dynasty, founded in RY277 when the Scarlet Empress took Kemal Morigaturqi as an Imperial Consort.
An outcaste Dragonblood descended from remnant Shogunal Gentes, Morigaturqi was amongst the Empress’ most vocal opponents at court, decrying the centralization of power and the shifting of expenses from Throne to the prefectures and Houses. Some spoke that the Empress took him to her bed so she might quiet and distract his complaints, others that She wished to see if his passions could be put to other use. Regardless, on becoming Consort, Morigaturqi was granted right to establish a Great House, into which he adopted a number of other outcaste politicians eager for access to the Throne and the Deliberative, which they had long considered too pliant, shirking its responsibilities.
House Morigaturqi’s powerbase was concentrated in its deliberative caucus, where they verbally sparred with the elder statesmen of Houses such as the Ragara, Iselsi, and Kurosa. He was also the father of two children by the Empress, princess Cynis and prince Cathak, though neither child took much after their father.
In fact, it was Cathak who led the first soldiers of the 1st Imperial Legion to storm the Deliberative in RY360 in the first Cull of the Intransigent Cacophony, which killed Morigaturqi and his younger (and most vocally anti-Throne) descendants, the rest of the House put to the sword over the following days.
During their existence, the House’s radical Senators came to be known by Morigaturqi’s childhood nickname, as the ‘Turks’. ‘Turk’ has remained in the lexicon of the Deliberative, even as its origin has slipped from public conversation, to refer to any group of Senators or Deliberators with fiery oratory and radical agendas... in the present generation of Senators, it is commonly applied to the radical and youthful senators of House V'neef, the 'Young Turks'.
