The auditors of auditors, the Authority of Self-Examination is tasked with coordinating the various arms of the Department of Celestial Concerns, and overseeing the reviews, investigations, & audits conducted under its auspices. Much of this involves compiling reports on all ongoing investigation, ownership, commerce, and conduct for delivery to the Department’s Shogun and, in principle, the Unconquered Sun. The power to know who is being examined and why is potent indeed, and the highest bureau in the highest department of the highest and a number of gods aligned with Ryzala, whose purviews of bureaucracy and paperwork might seem to belong under the Department of Abstract Matters or Bureau of Humanity have secured appointments to the Authority. Alas for Ryzala, who wishes to see the Authority as an efficient intelligence-gathering organ under her control, the sheer volume of information and its value to each god in their own Heavenly intrigues means she has made little progress.
