The Towers of Thunder is a fortress-manse amongst the high peaks at the eastern edge of Lord's Crossing Dominion, its position marking the border between that Dominion and Juche Prefecture. The Towers consist of twin citadels linked by a massive gate, through which runs the Cloud Highway connecting Juche and Lord's Crossing. Despite the proximity of the Imperial Mountain and the Isle's weather control, thunderstorms are common around the Towers.

Entering the Towers from the road requires ascent of narrow staircases rising high above along the interior walls of its massive gate. Traditionally, rather than make the long and slippery descent by stairs, (air-aspected) Tepets will simply leap down onto the road. Within the House, 'someone who takes the stairs' is a saying describing someone incompetent or unworthy.

The Towers of Thunder is the ancestral seat of the Vergus branch of House Tepet. The devastation of House Tepet means the Towers are largely empty, though an understrength force from the 9th Legion continues to man the fortress.
