Western Plums are a fruit-bearing tree found in the Western Threshold, one of few fruits to be readily available. The trees are stocky and gnarled, found to favour rocky shoreline areas. They are hardy, able to bear poor conditions and waves, and are most remarkable for being highly tolerant of soil and water bearing large amounts of salt... indeed, they seem dependent on salt water, as attempts to raise them inland usually fail.
In the month of descending Air each year, Western Plum trees grow heavy with small round fruits, whose skin is smooth and dark blue-purple and whose flesh is yellow and very sweet. These plums are harvested and consumed fresh, or processed to preserve them for the rest of the year either by drying and salt-curing or fermentation and distillation into Rakia Liqueur.
