The small Kingdom of Valeria sits south of the Valley of Six Barons, reached through the Valley of Shards. It is named for its capital, a small walled city on the bank of the Valorous River , a tributary of the Rock River used by many traders trying to shorten the overland journey between the Northeast and the Scavenger Lands (avoiding Linowan piracy). Slavery is banned in the kingdom, as is begging... in prosperous times beggars were rounded up and taken to shelters where they could be fed by the generosity of the monarch, but the coffers for such gifts have been drained, and the local Royal Guard constables face fines if beggars are found in their districts… to avoid these, most constables gather the destitute at night, breaking their kneecaps and throwing them in the river.
