Fireseeds are spherical seeds born of a rare species of plant growing in the far South, where the energies of the Elemental Pole of Fire was hover the edges of the Wyld. They were once harvested in great quantities during the First Age, but the years of the Shogunate saw increasing difficulties and the shrinking of Creation's borders during the Great Contagion and Balorian Crusade has meant they are now exceedingly difficult to obtain.
Fireseeds resemble small spherical shells of a clear glass-like substance, enclosing an internal flame. They are hot to the touch, but do not themselves have the abiity to light fires... when broken, their flame disperses in a puff of smoke, whose only effect is to restore one mote to the pool of an Essence user who breathes in the smoke when it is broken.
Fireseeds can be eaten for nourishment much like any other nut or berry.
Fireseeds are an exotic component, used in the creation of the utility artifacts known as Fire Pearls and Hearthglow Crock (a type of Transperfect Domestic Tool).
Fireseeds also give their name to a game played with marbles.
