Sweet Balls in Wine is a traditional dessert of the Blessed Isle, eaten most commonly in the Air and Water seasons. It consists of Glutinous Rice, mashed and half-digested by Blessed Mold, then formed into soft balls and served in a milky slightly alcoholic liquid. It is eaten with a spoon.
The ingredients for this dish are drawn from materials left over in the production of Rice Wine, allowing even the poor of the Isle to partake. Amongst the scions of the Patrician Clans and Scarlet Dynasty, the dish is prepared directly from cooked rice, and flavoured with Sweet Osmanthus. It finds particular favour in Northern School Cuisine.
