Description: An example of ‘beat’ poetry, common in the past decade, usually delivered verbally with accompaniment from a Linowan drum.
Contents:
fingers tumbling over vertebrae
like the ridge of a key
lip locked and one socked
elated and asphyxiated
rolling through crumpling cloth
waistbands and busy hands
snapping sliding over and down
I say with a wink
you shudder to think
we share a laugh and breath
though tongue tied
we cant keep still
or shake the chill
like moonlight in a fight
with candle flicker
at odds they bicker
one warm yet jitters
the other cool but a blanket
radiant just the same
again say my name
my ear otherwise left to the moans
grab my flush face and erase from sight
these inferior tones of night
