The Focusing Motonoscope is a tool found in Manufactory Cathedrals which magnifies objects placed beneath it, allowing the user to observe things too small for the naked eye. However, it is more than a mere magnifying lens, for it accomplishes this task by means of Essence Sight, allowing the user to see underlying essence rather than physical form. In the hands of users with enlightened essence, a focusing motonoscope becomes even more effective, the structure of the Cathedral supporting a mutual resonance making the user able to perceive the pulse of motonic flows and flash of releases.
Use of Focusing Motonoscopes is vital to allow technicians to do the fine detail work demanded by Magitech artifice, particularly in assembly of Essence Circuits.
Focusing Motonoscopes are of little use outside of Factory Cathedrals, for they require a significant power source to activate their Essence Sight, and their mechanisms work at such an extreme degree of sensitivity that outside the carefully and ritually purified environment of a Cathedral they suffer extreme interference, displaying little more than mottled colours and rolling static.
