The Vermillion Legion, also known as the Red Piss Legion, is made up of the dregs of the Imperial Legions: disgraced and dishonoured Legion soldiers, criminals and addicts sentenced to serve, worthless sons who have sabotaged their own marriage prospects… the scum of the Realm are dumped in the Legion to die.

And die they do. The Vermillion is tasked with the most difficult and suicidal of assignments in the Realm’s interminable wars, charging to mount impossible objectives or set holding the line while more well-regarded troops make their withdrawals. Casualties amongst the Red Piss are always high.

And yet, somehow despite their suicide assignments and the poor origins of their troops, the Vermillion Legion somehow always seems to emerge with its bloody hands gripping hard upon victory… the weak and inept purged through the fires of battle, leaving a dangerously effective core.

The Vermillion is the only Legion sponsored by House Cynis, who chose it for its low maintenance costs and high rate of slave-taking while on campaign. Currently House Cynis does not involve itself in the command or operation of their Legion… instead they take payments from other Houses to assign targets for the Red Piss, and collect a cut of loot and slaves taken by the Legion.

In RY762, Vermillion Legion Strategoi Ragara ]alin was dismissed from the Legions for her failures in the Battle of Five Fangs. She was replaced by Tepet Ejava, promoted from a post as Dragonlord of the 9th Legion 1st Dragon. The Vermillion Legion was redeployed from the North to An-Teng, to conduct an anti-piracy campaign. This mission persists, with House Ragara currently paying House Cynis to keep the Red Piss in place, though its future at this juncture is unknown.
