The Fubard is a large flightless bird found in An-Teng, Bushan, and the Islands of the Southwestern Threshold. In profile, its body is a pointed prolate spheroid in shape, with a long leg and a stubby wing extending on either side and a long bare neck going out to a sparse-feathered head which remains on the body’s horizontal axis. Their plumage is rich blue edged in bright red.
Fubard are fast-moving creatures, feeding on fruit and seeds found along the forest floor and avoiding predators by running in the opposite direction. They are not particularly clever, and while fleeing can sometimes break their own necks by running headlong into tree trunks.
The flesh of fubard is delicious, slightly sweet with an intense poultry flavour, and their bones are excellent for making soup stock. Because of this, they are widely hunted by local populations, and are extinct or near-extinct on several islands.
