Ox Tongue Fungus can be found growing from the trunks of large trees. It is a large fungus, in appearance the shape and colour of a tongue, hence its name.
When cooked, the fungus has a texture and taste similar to actual beef or ox tongue, though with a hint of acidity. As the fresh mushroom is very tough, it must be subjected to a long cooking time to render it edible.
