Snakeroot is a short plant producing small leaves and black berries, native to the Southwestern Threshold and some southern islands of the West. It is named for its roots, which grow in a coiling shape much like that of a snake.
The roots of the plant have medicinal properties, brewed into a tea or chewed to produce a tranquilizing effect that calms those who take it, numbing mind and body. It is sometimes prescribed by hedge alchemists for use mitigating the effects of insanity. A side-effect is swelling within the nasal cavity, rendering breathing through the nose difficult.
