The Devoted Wellspring of Municipal Beneficence is a department of the [[Thousand Scales]] responsible for the operation and maintenance of much of the urban infrastructure in the [[Imperial City]]. 


Across most of the Realm, prefectural and city governments deal with local infrastructure directly, with officials of the [[Honorable and Humble Caretakers of the Common Folk]] appointed by prefects and governors to deal with such matters. In the Imperial City, by far the largest city in the Realm as well as its political and administrative capital, there is no city governor, and there exist several distinct organs of the Thousand Scales to fulfil the needed functions.


The Devoted Wellspring is responsible for maintaining the streets of the City, the system of streetlamps, the drain system, ward and City walls, and a significant number of public buildings. They often work closely with the office of the [[Scarlet Prefecture]]'s prefect and with the [[Eternally Vigilant Wardens of Detritus]], as well as the Humble Caretakers and the Imperial Legion garrison (currently the [[4th Imperial Legion]]).
