A bureau within the hierarchy of the [[Thousand Scales]], the Bureau of Climatic Deliberations is in charge of weather control for the Blessed Isle. 


The Bureau was once the largest employer of thaumaturges in the Realm, its task requiring the services only experts in such skills could provide: some experienced in artifice and enchantment were needed to maintain the vast network of Mantis Towers and White Jade Obelisks which stabilize the Isle's weather, others experienced in direct control of weather were needed to fill gaps and add precision to the meteorological schedule. Still others, astrologers and geomancers, were in demand to join teams of other savants and predict the flows of weather which would approach the Isle and needed to be countered. 


Today, the Bureau has been gutted. In RY765, the Deliberative moved to cut the revenues reaching the Imperial Treasury, and only stopped their slicing when the Imperial Treasury held up several ministries including the Bureau of Climatic Deliberations as a sacrifice to the politicians. Bal Keraz provided a lump of funding to see mantis towers folded away and packed in warehouses, but nearly 90% of the Bureau's thaumaturges were released to search for new employment and the hearthstones which powered the weather control artifacts of the Realm were snatched back by the Great Houses and spread amongst their scions.


The  Bureau is divided into numerous departments, one for each coast of the Isle.

- The '''West Coast Department''' (under Vice-Minister Assuri Karpako), whose notable divisions include the Storm Coast Desk (under deputy vice-minister Sesus Kita).

- The '''South Coast Department''' (under Vice-Minister Ledaal Mitasha), whose notable divisions include the Arjuf Desk (under deputy vice-minister Ambrim Jungo) and the Sublime Desk (under deputy vice-minister Cathak Nairo).

- '''The East Coast Department''' (under Vice-Minister Bal Qing), whose notable divisions include the Capital Desk (under deputy vice-minister Mnemon Caras Tanak), the Jade Coast Desk (under deputy vice-minister Peleps Stabach), and the Xianyu Coast Desk (under deputy vice-minister Cynis Ashta).
