Imperial Library

The Imperial Library is a massive ministry of the Thousand Scales, tasked with maintaining a copy of every text published in the Realm, as well as the records of the Thousand Scales dating back to the founding of the Scarlet Empire. It was also the Empress' personal repository of knowledge, and thus sought to collect a copy of every book in Creation, from heretical Thousand Gods confessionals to First-Age romance novellas.

The Library is a massive institution in of itself, many of its clerks born into their jobs and using a unique language and system of indexing. If a Dynast seeks a restricted text, a record reference, or the latest edition of a poet's verses, he comes to the Library's central edifice of parchment-coloured marble in the Imperial City, while mundane and Immaculate texts are available to mortals through several 'branch libraries' located in the Realm's city districts and major townships.

Head: Most Erudite Head Librarian, currently Mnemon Bera, a woman who takes her work very seriously and has no time for social niceties. Bera has taken extreme measures to secure the texts in her charge, including the hiring of a mercenary force to defend her Libraries, and has engaged in a no-holds-barred war with the other departments of the Thousand Scales who have control of books and texts, to render them subordinate to the Library.

Subsidiary Offices: Keepers of Records and Notable Events, Office of Censors.
