The Virtuous Pen Technique is said to be the last of the [[Three Perfected Styles of Calligraphy]], a way of writing the characters of [[Old Realm]] set out by the Immaculate of Air [[Mela]] in the text [[The Immaculate Brush]].

The Technique is said to blend the strict rigidity of [[Five Harmonious Angles Style]] with the flow of [[Whirlwind Brush Method]], demanding exacting perfection for each character. The Technique is favoured for occult applications such as sorcerous texts.

Though in the present day the [[Immaculate Order]] and [[Scarlet Dynasty]] hold that the Technique was devised by Mela, in truth it was the work of the [[Solar Exalted]] during the [[First Age]].
