New page

The intent behind specialty-based ability training is in part to explain how (particularly in fields whose nature demands specialized knowledge or study) Ability dots are as broadly appliccable as they are. It does this by showing how they are assembled from several narrower components to achieve a general level of understanding. The other intent is to make training a little more interesting and varied: rather than spending months training with one swordmaster and a wooden blade, characters can spend shorter times learning a varied set of skills, potentially from a variety of teachers... a chance for more interesting encounters even as they go through the rather mundane act of spending tim & XP to add to their character sheets.
