New page

A sun pavilion is an architectural element often found in Dynastic gardens. The sun pavilion, sometimes known as a sun room (when attached directly to a villa) or greenhouse (in the Threshold, with the term reserved mostly for agricultural structures in the context of the [[Blessed Isle]]), is an enclosed pavilion with walls of glass or crystal. The clear walls, often supplemented by carefully-placed mirrors, allow the light of the [[Most High]] to warm the interior throughout the day, with the entrances closed to preserve the warmth. Alongside basins (oft carved ornately to represent the Immaculate Dragon [[Hesiesh]]) filled with water, they create an internal environment in which the plants of the southeast and southwest can thrive even in the other Directions.

A sun pavilion is traditionally used to supply herbs and flowers, or to provide a humid hot venue for afternoon luncheons.
