New page

The spidermoth is a flying insect found across Creation. Its name comes from the nesting webs woven during its caterpillar stage, where it is purple in colour and ravenous in appetite, devouring the leaves of trees and shrubs. The web, of a soft silk, protects the caterpillar as it eats, and after it has stuffed itself full will support the cocoon used as it transforms into a moth.

Though spidermoth caterpillars can eat many leaves, they do not damage the rest of a plant. Regardless, the appearance of webs sees it considered an aesthetic pest in many areas, such as on the [[Blessed Isle]]. The silk it produces is too short and fragile to see much use in the [[Silk|textile industry]].
