The Office of Censors is a minor department of the [[Thousand Scales]], under the aegis of the [[Imperial Library]], charged with the review, restriction, and censorship of all texts published or circulated within the Realm.

The Office is made up of a team of Scales bureaucrats and a team of Immaculate clergy, the former experts in the laws of the Realm and the latter in the strictures of the Immaculate texts. A pair is responsible for reviewing each book, and both must agree to it before it is rendered legal in the Realm. If the bureaucrat objects, regardless of the monk's opinion, the text is banned. If the monk opposes the text but the bureaucrat accepts it, then it is placed under a Perfected Restriction, only the Dragonblooded allowed to read or own it. If only certain passages are viewed as unacceptable, along with other information viewed as desireable, then the two will debate which sections ought be removed or 'blacked out'... the latter is rarely so crude a thing as brushing ink over words and leaving it at that, for there is a team of scribes employed by the Censors whose only task is to rewrite pages with offending text so it is seamlessly removed.
