New page

by ''Gramikavi Yani Pedag''.

A military account from a Varangian military officer, the Loss at the Western Bank seems a description of a Varang military battle against cattle raiders encroaching from neighbouring Harborhead.

It describes the inexplicable defeat of a Varangian garrison when its general deployed to the field against five thousand Harbourheadites with only fifty soldiers armed with bullet bows. The general was slain in the battle that followed, so the mystery of why he marched with so few troops when tactics showed he ought have deployed at least ten times that number.
