[[Melodic Insight]], once known as Ledaal Puhua, is an [[Immaculate]] monk expelled for heresy by the [[Palace Sublime]] and exiled from the [[Blessed Isle]] by the [[Scarlet Empress]].

Insight’s youth was spent following the course set for him by [[House Ledaal|his family]], preparing for service in the [[Immaculate Order]] through attendance at the [[Stepping Stone Madrassa]] and the [[Cloister of Wisdom]], before taking tonsure and the monastic name Rushing Wind. He rose through service in several temples, most notably as [[Structure of the Immaculate Order#Positions Within the Order|Omniscient Connoisseur of Acroamatic Knowledge]] for the [[Temple of the Petitioner of Clouds accordant to the Call of Battle]]. Some had believed his House intended him to emerge as nestor of the Temple, but whispers had grown over the decades of his increasing and inappropriate study of proscribed texts born of heretical offshoots of [[:Category:Immaculate Theology|Immaculate teachings]], and when [[Flashing Zephyr]] was appointed nestor, Rushing Wind was ordered to return to the [[Palace Sublime]] so he might correct his errant ways.

The monk Rushing Wind left the Imperial City on a [[Penitential Pilgrimage]] Sublime, heading not south but northward along the [[Great Coast Road]]. The same monk arrived from the west to [[Sion]] five years later, clad in woven basket and playing melodies on an [[Ascending Flute]], openly declaration support for the [[Melodic Insight Heresy]] by taking it as his name.

Melodic Insight who-was-once-Ledaal-Puhua was subjected to interrogations and pressures in an attempt to force him to recant, without success. In a heated exchange with the [[Paragon of Mela]] on the steps of the Temple of Fragments, he refused to debate or defend himself, instead delivering his response in a manner of which no one who witnessed it will speak, He was expelled from the Order, and soon after was imprisoned at the [[Bastille of Thirty Faces]] for proselytizing amongst the common folk (through the playing of his flute), followed by disownment from his family and a sentence of exile handed out by the [[Scarlet Empress]].

From the [[Blessed Isle]], Insight took ship on pilgrimage across Creation, though many of the [[Immaculate]] sites he reached refused him entry. At last, he settled amongst the Dynastic exiles of [[Wu Jian]], who proved welcoming to his strange ways. Insight remains a popular guest at expatriate salons, sure to provide excitement with his odd religious pronouncements and behaviours, as well as artistry with the music of his flute.

Though they had many public disagreements, Melodic Insight was known to often share the company of another Immaculate heretic, Crazy Cloud ([[Ragara Ikkyu]]), during the latter’s time in Wu Jian before he returned to the [[Imperial Palace]].
