New page

The Golden Leaf Canal is a major transportation artery of the Northeastern Threshold. It stretches in a curving arc to link the Silver River in the northwest, through the Blackwater River, River of Golden Branches, and River of Black Branches. The Canal ends at the Nessan River flowing from Lake Kol.

The Golden Leaf Canal is exactly 60 yards wide and 30 yards deep. Its bottom and sides are coated in imperishable [[Adamantine Glass]], which remain smooth despite the passage of years and keep the water free of plants and parasites, which in turn means few fish choose to dwell there.

At each point where the Canal meets a river, a large set of crossed bridges allow overland passage. These bridges each form a 1-dot Water manse which produces no hearthstone, energies directed instead to regulating water levels and flow between the Canal and the rivers.

The Canal is used by a number of realms as a trade route and source of fresh water, inccluding [[Fenta]], [[Ascending Spruce]], [[Shandir Woods]], the [[Gossamer Stockade]], [[Lake Kol]], and [[Soja]], as well as [[Halta]] (at least as a water source and open area for quick movement by flying messengers). The [[Linowan]], masters of river boating, occasionally sail the Canal on raids or trade missions, though it is too far afield for regular access. Independent traders also make use of the Canal, including [[Guild]] vessels out of [[River Keep]] on the Silver River.
