This pentagonal gemstone is clear, but a perpetual inner fire seems to smoulder within, taking on the colour of its bearer’s anima (fading to a yellow-white when not attuned or for bearers without animas).

A Dragonblooded Exalt attuned to this gem gains the benefits of the [[Breeding]] Background at a rating equal to her Essence. The bearer does not display the physical signs of the hearthstone-granted Breeding, though of course Dragonblooded display similar elemental traits as their Essence reaches higher levels, as is likely for those who would seek to bear this stone.

This Hearthstone does not increase the likelihood that a bearer’s child will Exalt (though it is thought to affect the quality of blood in children who do), nor can the jewel grant benefits of a Breeding background above 6 (regardless of bearer’s permanent Essence). Other types of beings and Dragon-Blooded with a higher innate Breeding rating than their Essence do not normally gain access to this power, but may carry this Hearthstone to recover Essence. In those rare cases where another being (such as an Eclipse caste Solar Exalt) is able to make use of Dragonblooded Charms whose power is affected by Breeding, the Charms will count their Breeding as rated equal to their Essence, capped at 6.
