Coldvine is a thich, blue-green vine which grows along the lower trunks of coniferous trees in the Northeastern Threshold. The vine is remarkable only for the fact that it is completely immune to fire... no matter the heat applied, a length of Coldvine will not burn. This makes coldvine invaluable in the tree-dwelling culture of [[Halta]], as while their coniferous abodes are resistant to fire they are not immune, nor are the human-built structures in their branches. Coldvine baskets and ovens are used to house fires in Haltan homes, and grown to protect young conifer trees in border areas when fires are started to clear out far-more-flammable deciduous trees.

The harvesting of Coldvine is difficult not due to the vine itself, but because the vines are the main foodsource for the '''Coldvine Mite''', a small insect which will bite anything trying to handle its home vine, leaving swollen itching welts and rashes. Specially-prepared herbal poultices are used to treat such injuries.
